Bufy uses a zero-knowledge double encryption architecture inspired by 1Password and Bitwarden. Your financial data is encrypted in your browser before it ever leaves your device, using a key derived from your password that we never see. Even if our servers were compromised, your data remains unreadable. This is what makes Bufy a truly privacy-focused budget app.

Double Encryption

Data is encrypted in your browser before transmission, then again on our servers. Two layers of protection for your personal finances.

Layer 1: Your password derives a 256-bit key via PBKDF2 with 600,000 iterations. This key encrypts your data before it leaves your browser. Layer 2: Our servers add a second encryption layer with managed keys. Even a complete server breach reveals nothing — attackers would need both layers.
